With its polished look, solid stainless steel and aluminum tri-ply bottom plus rubberized orange handles, this Rachael Ray Stainless Steel Cookware set is a great choice for today’s kitchen. It gets good reviews from customers and is perfect for someone who wants to make a bold statement on their stovetop with cookware that offers the perfect blend of performance and aesthetics.
In addition, along with great looks, stainless steel is a healthy material for cookware. There are no worries about harmful chemicals leaking into your food as with non stick pots and pans.
Bottoms and Sides
The tri-ply bottom is made of three layers–stainless steel, aluminum, stainless steel. The aluminum in the center is what ensures even consistent heating throughout. Without it, food would not cook well as stainless steel is not the best metal for conducting heat. The tri-ply construction does not extend up the sides of the items. That feature is usually found on more expensive cookware. However, the cooking performance is still very good.
The orange colorful handles on the saucepans, skillets (frying pans) and sauté pan give the cookware set a unique, contemporary look. Made from rubberized materials, the handles have a very good grip. Some owners, though, state that while the handles are attractive, the material tends to shred after repeated use. And while the handles have been designed to be oven friendly to up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, owners have reported that the handles can become very hot during cooking despite their heat-resistant silicone construction.
The 6.5 Qt. stockpot contains two handles for greater control during cooking, lifting, or maneuvering the stockpot. The double riveted construction means that all the handles are secured firmly to the items.
The tempered glass lids are very appealing to some cooks. The transparent, see-through construction allows the user to monitor food without removing it That can help retain heat and moisture and result in a faster cooking process. However, there are no steam vents present on any of the four lids. A vent would allow steam to escape at a moderate rate and prevent boil overs that can result if left unattended.
Despite their tri-ply encapsulated bottoms which is thick, the saucepans, skillets, and stockpot are medium in weight and can be easily lifted and carried from one place to another. Cooking weight plays an important role in a pot or pan’s ability to cook well. Cookware that is too thin has the potential of burning foods easily.
On the opposite side, cookware that is too heavy can be difficult to lift, an important factor to note if there are any issues like carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis.
Brushed or Mirror Polished
Along with the orange colored handles, the shiny design of this mirror polished material makes it an attractive set to own. The material is so shiny that you can see your reflection in the items. The materials is also quite sturdy and does not dent easily.
- 1 1/4 Qt. covered saucepan
- 2 1/2 Qt. covered saucepan
- 6 1/2 Qt. covered stockpot
- 3 Qt. covered sauté pan
- 8” frying pan – skillet
- 10” frying pan – skillet
Individual covers are included for all of the pots as well as the saute pan. That’s always a bonus. The frying pans don’t have their separate covers but covers from the other items fit them. The size of the items is adequate. the 1 1/4 quart is small, though, and can only hold a small amount of food. However the 2 1/2 quart saucepan is adequate to use for 2 or 3 servings.
The stockpot is a good size for larger families, based on one quart holds four cups of liquid, this would mean this stockpot could hold about 26 cups of liquid. Take into consideration that food takes up more space than liquid.
The two frying pans are sizes that the majority of cookware sets include. A 10 inch frying pan should prepare enough food for a medium size family. I feel, overall, the set would accommodate the needs of a small toe medium size family of 3 to 4 people.

When rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, Rachael Ray Stainless Steel Cookware gets an impressive average score of 3.5 to 4 stars. Reviews are generally positive. Some complaints center around food sticking, but this is a complaint that happens across the board with stainless steel products. It’s an undeserved complaint as it only takes a few minutes watching a Youtube video to see how easy it is to cook with stainless steel.
